The American Brain Tumour Association: This US group provides a range of detailed booklets, which are available to download here, on different brain tumours and treatment options.
The ABTA also produces A Primer of Brain Tumours, which you can download by clicking here. It is one of the most comprehensive guides on the internet, and provides a strong foundation to understand brain tumour basics.
The US National Brain Tumor Society: provides a great range of guides and detailed fact sheets. These highly recommended publications include an 80 page The Essential Guide to Brain Tumours, with a comprehensive guide to brain tumours and the factsheet 10 Questions to Ask Your Doctor – an informative guide about what to ask to get the answers you need to know. Brainlife: Our members have found Brainlife very useful – which is a website that collects references to the latest published medical sources in the field of brain tumor research and treatment. There is a lot of information on here and requires some sifting through, but has been found to track well the latest progress in brain tumour developmetns. Click here:
Brain Tumour Treatments Net : This simply designed website provides a comprehensive list of current treatments available to patients, as well as other forms of potential secondary and alternative treatments. Members have found it a very good starting point to get a sense of what they could possibly add to their treatments. Click here.
Discussion groups:
Brain-temozolomide Yahoo discussion group: This group is for patients/caregivers/doctors to discuss medical issues dealing with brain tumors, including Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), anaplastic astrocytomas (AA), oligodendroglioma, brain mets, low grade gliomas, and others. Discussion is allowed on both traditional and alternative treatments. It was first used only for discussion of Temozolomide but is now a general brain tumor group. It has proven to be very useful in obtaining information on latest treatments. Click here to join the group.
OzBrain Tumour Yahoo discussion group: This group has more than 700 Australian members and provides an important local forum to talk about all aspects of treatment and coping – at all stages, from diagnosis to recovery or to palliative care.
